I woke up this morning and in a rare moment of actually saying the right thing at the right time, the first words out of my mouth were, “Happy Valentine’s Day, Babe!” I was going to take a light day. I would run down and check on the bridge work and then come back and hopefully get to spend some time as a family. As I was loading up the quad bike to take some cement down, a metal digging bar slipped off the bike and slashed my foot open. The cut went deep and soon the appropriate Valentine’s color was flowing. I quickly went back to the house and assessed the damage with Bethany. In the end, we hopped in the pick-up truck and went to the GOAL clinic in town and got stitched up. Now this was not necessarily the most romantic thing we have done together but what can one expect in Sudan? Happy Valentine’s Day.

Glad I missed that but sorry it happened. I miss life on the compound already. We all got home yesterday. Your letters have been mailed. I see we got away without your personal e-mail address. Wanted to send you a follow up. In the meantime, for lack of a better way to get this message to you, Bethany, please check in Lori's room, on top of left bins under her shelf. There are two sacks of flannel board Bible stories for you and Lori to use and Rick told me on the way home that there were some personal letters for you that he had stuck in those bags that he forgot to pass along. Hope you find them. Please send your e-mail addy to me at traffickirkland@yahoo.com. In His love, Jennifer

Oooh lovely. Might not be the most romantic date you imagined, but those things can be surprising. My first date with Eric we spent most of the time in an emergency room. We call it the best worst first date ever! Praying for quick healing :)

Why does sickness like to hang around so long???

Only a few days after returning from our trip to Kenya, Judah started spiking high fevers. We took him to our clinic here in town for blood ...
